‘Zootopia 2’ is Disney’s highest-grossing animated film ever
Beating ‘Frozen 2’ with $1.46 billion earnings in just over a month.
Zootopia 2 grossed $333 million domestically and $1.13 billion overseas. The film saw a big increase in theaters over the Christmas weekend, its fifth week of release, adding $87.9 million to its already impressive total. The film hit the coveted $1 billion milestone after just 17 days of release, and it was the fastest PG-rated movie in history to do so.

Including “Zootopia 2”, only three films have crossed the $1 billion mark worldwide this year: Disney’s remake of the feature film “Lilo & Stitch”, which earned $1.03 billion, and the Chinese animated film “Ne Zha 2”, which is the biggest film of the year, earning more than $2.2 billion.
On screen, the sequel returns to a familiar theme, but with an expanded cast. Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde return to the center of the story, voiced again by Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman, with supporting roles by Ke Huy Quan, Idris Elba, and Quinta Brunson. The film builds on the original film’s blend of buddy energy and civic satire that helped transform the first Zootopia into a modern animated film.
Nevertheless, this achievement marks a significant moment for Disney, reinforcing the long-term strength of animated franchises that can grow with their audiences rather than simply repeating familiar beats.
