Italian brand Seletti is well known for transforming iconic characters and everyday objects into striking lighting pieces. They are a perfect example of its fine craftsmanship that blends art and pop culture in playful designs.

For the 2026 Maison&Objet collection, the brand collaborated with Mario Paroli to transform the still-beloved ballpoint pen into a pendant lamp. This launch is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the legendary BIC Cristal ballpoint pen.
The BIC lamp is a scaled-up version of the legendary pen, with a 12:1 ratio. It looks really big and eye-catching. The designer has cleverly rethought the function of the pen and adjusted the proportions to make it a functional lighting design that can be placed anywhere in your home or office.
Each lamp is made of carefully selected materials that replicate the original product, and modern LED technology is used for lighting.
As you can see in the pictures, the BIC lamp has a transparent body with a cap at one end. The ink tube has been replaced by a light element that runs the entire length of the body. The LED light source is elongated, so it emits a wide, even light, making it ideal for large surfaces, such as dining or conference tables.

This pendant lamp creates a subtle impression whether you place it in the living room or the bedroom. It highlights a unique approach to lighting design, using unconventional concepts that may seem strange at first, but end up being truly unique. This particular lamp shows how everyday objects can also become a source of design inspiration.
