Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that sources say Apple is developing products for a follow-up to its foldable iPhone. The first foldable iPhone is rumored to launch in September of this year alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

In 2024, The Information reported that Apple was preparing to release a foldable iPhone with a “Flip” format. Since then, information about second Apple’s clamshell phone has been very little, but now Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman has shared some words about it.
According to the journalist, Apple has not canceled the project and is still “studying” whether to release such a smartphone to the market.
“Apple Labs is considering another foldable device, a clamshell. There are no guarantees, but Apple is betting that the first foldable iPhone will be successful enough to create real demand in the category, and that buyers will want models in other shapes and sizes, just like traditional, flat iPhones,” Gurman said.
So, if the foldable “book-shaped” iPhone is released, another form of iPhone will appear if the market is ready for it and the first one is successful.
The “book-shaped” iPhone is expected to be introduced in the fall of 2026.
