Kontrapunkt opens ‘Type Foundry’ with four decades of experience
With 40 years of experience in creating custom fonts for global brands, international creative agency Kontrapunkt is introducing its first retail font collection.
International studio opens Kontrapunkt Type, the first retail type foundry, offering the public access to a type design experience previously only offered through custom commissions.
For four decades, the studio has created custom typefaces and wordmarks with brands such as LEGO, noma, Carlsberg, Shiseido, Chamberlain Coffee, Mitsubishi, Nissan, and ASICS Tiger, creating type systems that work across cultures and industries, each designed with a specific voice and need in mind.

For Kontrapunkt, this move isn’t just a product release. It’s an extension of their craft: offering foundational fonts for everyone. It launches with three typeface families: KP Duo Sans, KP Duo Serif, and KP Spatial.
Decades of refining letterforms across cultures and systems have taught Kontrapunkt what they want in their toolkit. What they aim for first. These are foundational fonts designed with modern clarity and Scandinavian warmth.

The foundry offers a simple licensing model that uses just one metric: the number of employees in your company. Licenses include all font variations, styles, and cuts with no usage restrictions, as well as easy embedding into platforms like PowerPoint.
Trial fonts are also available for testing and conceptual development, with commercial licenses available for purchase. This is the foundry’s first release, with more typefaces to come.
