Discord will force all users to verify their identity to access adult content
Failure to do so will result in various restrictions being imposed on your account.
Discord has announced a new approach to privacy that will put all user accounts on the platform, regardless of country, into a kind of “teen mode.” Previously, these settings were only available in the UK and Australia, but now they will be expanded to the entire world.

All accounts will be restricted from accessing adult content, including servers, until users verify their identity with a passport or other valid document. Age verification will also be possible by uploading a video selfie. In addition, Discord will implement an age verification system that will run in the background and determine whether a user is of legal age based on their behavior.
If your account fails to verify, it will be subject to the following restrictions:
- Photos and videos marked 18+ will be blurred.
- Access to channels and servers with age restrictions will be closed.
- Received messages from strangers will be sent to a separate folder.
- Messages about friend requests from strangers will be marked additionally.
- The opportunity to perform at the canal grandstand will be closed.
Discord will also create an advisory board of 10-12 teenagers to better understand the security measures needed by the younger generation and implement appropriate features.
The implementation of the new requirements will begin in early March.
