Apple is rumored to unveil a thinner “iPhone Air” next month, ditching the minor design changes and spec tweaks that have become a common occurrence at launch events. The three-year plan calls for the next iOS update to change the hardware to match the new ‘Liquid Glass” design, as Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman highlighted in his latest newsletter over the weekend.

A book-style foldable iPhone, which has been rumored for months, is also expected to be unveiled in 2026, while Apple is reportedly planning to release an iPhone with curved glass all around the device and very thin bezels in 2027 to commemorate the device’s 20th anniversary.
The main “iPhone 17” lineup is expected to feature significant design changes this fall, aside from a Pixel-like camera bar on the back. But the iPhone Air could offer some options for those bored with the look and feel of the current options, even if there are some trade-offs, like shorter battery life and a higher price.
