The change could apply to OLED MacBook Pro models that are expected to enter production by late 2026, Kuo reported on X, and will incorporate a “touch panel using on-cell touch technology.”

With the release of iPadOS 26, the iPad has taken a big step towards PC status – perhaps now it’s the MacBook’s turn to adopt the touchscreen interface that an entire generation has grown accustomed to.
“This change seems to reflect Apple’s long-term observations of iPad user behavior,” Kuo said, suggesting that adding touch controls could increase productivity for MacBook users “under certain circumstances.” I’m curious to see if future touchscreen MacBook Pro models will support the Apple Pencil, or if that’s too much.
