Uber’s Christmas ad for father and daughter relationship
A new film portrays "Uber" as a reliable way to get home for the holidays and a space to reflect on family life.
Uber is once again collaborating with Mother New York on a brand-new promotional film. Building on the thematic approach of a father-daughter relationship when they rarely see each other, and following on from the previous commercial, In Good Time, which showcased Uber’s role in nurturing relationships, this latest film also aims to highlight how the company’s reliable cars are always ready to help you on your journey through life.

After a long trip, a girl returns home and her whole life flashes before her eyes, when she was angry and happy with her only love for her father. The holiday season is wonderful because bad memories disappear and good things are brought in, because you don’t want to spend at least once a year alone or with anger. Whatever your goal, Uber drivers are always there to help.

From award-winning MJZ director Michael Spiccia, who also led the vision for In Good Time, the film has a thoughtful and serious tone. It marks a significant departure from the upbeat narrative we’re used to seeing from the brand in the UK, and reveals how Uber’s ride-hailing service can be useful in both the tough and the lighter moments of life.
“The idea was simply to showcase an emotional journey within an actual one,” – says Felix Richter, CCO at Mother. “A heartfelt family story in the context of the holidays set to an incredibly haunting track by James Blake.”
