Aldi is rolling out ‘lickable’ wrapping paper
A grocer is introducing wrapping paper that can be licked just in time for Christmas.
Christmas dinner may be the main event, but Aldi wants your wrapping paper to take centre stage too. Just in time for the festive rush, the UK supermarket chain has launched “lickable” Christmas wrapping paper, enriched with the taste and aroma of pigs in blankets.

This innovative wrap has been launched as part of a limited-time festive promotion to celebrate the return of Aldi’s specially selected double-wrapped pigs in blankets, which recently won Good Housekeeping’s 2025 ‘Best Pig in Blanket’ title. The wrapping paper is a playful extension of that honor. Designed in pastel pink stripes with holly and snowflake accents, the paper is decorated with peel-off stickers that reveal lickable, flavor-enhanced areas.

Unlike regular seasonal items, the wrapping paper is not available in stores. Instead, Aldi is only offering it through a limited-time competition that runs for one week.

Julie Ashfield, chief commercial officer at Aldi UK, said – “Pigs in Blankets are a highlight of the festive season and following our Good Housekeeping award win for the new Specially Selected Double Wrapped Pigs in Blankets, we wanted to create something special to celebrate the Christmas classic.”

The company cites research that suggests Britons consume an estimated 561 million pigs in blankets each year during the holidays – an average of around 10 per person. This staggering figure has inspired the idea to expand the snack beyond just plates and under Christmas trees.
