Launched in 2015, the Adobe Stock royalty-free marketplace has grown to include photos, vectors, video, audio, templates, and increasingly, generative AI content. Now it plans to rethink how contributors earn and how creators find what they need.

In a blog post, Matthew Smith, vice president of strategy, design and new products, says the company is introducing more creative revenue for contributors. Traditional licensing remains, but Adobe is doubling down on programs like “Missions”, which commission content in specific categories, and the ongoing “Firefly Contributor” bonus, which compensates creators whose work helps train Adobe’s generative AI models.
“What I admire most about Adobe is our focus on creativity,” says Smith. ”The Stock industry is transforming, which gives us the opportunity to rethink the conventional and shape the future together. We are grateful to continue this journey with you.”
Another focus is visibility as contributors will now see their work integrated across more Adobe products, meaning assets are no longer confined to the Stock portal.
What’s ahead for Adobe Stock customers, is that creators are being presented with more content than ever before, making integrations seamless, developing ways to customize content, improve the quality, and providing more content types than ever before.
