Apple is preparing a book-like foldable iPhone
Leaked 3D files have revealed the possible design direction of the first foldable iPhone.
Various leaks and analyst predictions already allow us to get a first impression of the upcoming device. Apple could be working on a book-style foldable phone with a larger internal display, according to the details. The leak comes ahead of the official launch, giving us our first look at the direction the company might take in the foldable phone market.

Leak reveals possible phone shape
The device, seen in 3D CAD (Computer-Aided Design) files posted on the social media platform X by Sonny Dickson, resembles a book-like foldable smartphone. This means that this iPhone could be opened horizontally and have a large screen inside, resembling a scaled-down version of a tablet.
The leaked images show several possible design solutions. They show the back of the phone with a raised camera module that resembles the camera strip used on newer Apple devices. Unlike some other models, this variant shows two cameras.
The phone also appears to have a less-than-symmetrical body shape, with two corners appearing rounded while the other two are more angular. It’s thought that this design could be related to where the folding mechanism would be located.
There would likely be an additional screen on the outside, allowing you to use the phone without unfolding it. This design has already become common in the foldable phone market.
Apple is preparing to enter a new market
Apple has yet to release a foldable phone, although competitors have been working on such devices for several years. However, leaked design files suggest that Apple’s first foldable phone could be quite similar to models already on the market. The “book”-style folding principle is already used in several competitor models.
Analysts who follow Apple’s activities believe that the first foldable iPhone will appear later this year, in the fall, when the iPhone 18 is introduced. For this reason, more and more leaked details are appearing online, the scale of which is likely to only increase in the coming months.
What else do we know about Apple’s foldable phone?
Although we still have to wait for the official launch, various leaks and analyst predictions already give us a glimpse into the features of the upcoming device. There have already been various speculations about the screen sizes – according to leaked information, the first foldable Apple phone may have a 7.8-inch internal screen and a 5.5-inch external screen.
Some other leaks suggest that Apple may be aiming to create one of the thinnest foldable phones on the market. It is speculated that the thickness of the unfolded device could be around 4.5mm, which is thinner than most current models.
Additionally, as in this leak, there are several possible technical solutions: two rear cameras, one front camera, and a Touch ID sensor in the power button instead of Face ID.
Previous rumors have also suggested that Apple could be developing a different model – a smaller iPhone Flip that would fold vertically and be more focused on everyday use.
Well, we’ll see what Apple’s foldable smartphone will actually be like in the near future.
