Balmuda releases alarm clock with focus and relaxation modes
It has light accents to focus and relax - the sounds of rain, a fireplace, or a river.
Japanese company Balmuda, known for its collaboration with Jony Ive, has released an alarm clock simply called “The Clock.” The company claims that this relaxing alarm clock will not only help you wake up, but also help you fall asleep or concentrate on work.

The clock has a minimalist look. Made from a single piece of aluminum, the dial has no arrows. Instead, it displays luminous hour accents: luminous numerals indicate 12 hours, minutes, and seconds are displayed as light divisions throughout.
However, the main feature of The Clock, according to the manufacturer, is its three operating modes. The clock can be used as a regular alarm clock, as well as in focus or relaxation modes.
The clock’s sound selection includes rain, fireplace, and river sounds. The same sound is used for the alarm: it starts softly three minutes before the set time and gradually increases to ensure a gentle awakening.
The focus mode, which can be set from 1 to 60 minutes, also includes white noise for concentration.

The clock connects to your smartphone via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and is powered by a built-in battery. However, it will need to be charged frequently – the battery life is claimed to be only 24 hours.
The clock is currently only available in Japan. Price: 59,400 Yen (~€323).
