Bloomberg: Apple is testing four designs for its first smart glasses
It's a part of the company's plans to create an ecosystem of new artificial intelligence devices.
Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman reported that Apple’s next new device will be smart glasses – the company is preparing a direct response to Ray-Ban’s popular Meta glasses.

They will not have augmented reality screens; the glasses will work with the iPhone, allowing you to take photos and videos from a first-person perspective, listen to music, receive notifications, and use smart features powered by artificial intelligence (such as object recognition using visual intelligence).
Other information about the glasses is known:
- Apple is testing four frame styles, ranging from large rectangular ones to small round ones. One design resembles the glasses Tim Cook wears.
- Instead of conventional plastic, the company intends to use acetate – a higher quality and more durable material.
- The front cameras will be housed in an oval-shaped unit with LED indicators. The colors currently being tested are: black, dark blue, and light brown.
The glasses are scheduled for release in spring/summer 2027 (with shipping in late 2026). They are part of a larger “three-part wearables strategy” that Gurman described. Apple is also working on new AirPods with built-in cameras and a dedicated camera pendant.
