‘Blue Zones Nicoya’ packaging inspired by everyday longevity
The project offers a living language that goes beyond packaging and encompasses the broader brand ecosystem.
Blue Zones Nicoya reinterprets longevity as an everyday visual experience, conveying the values of Costa Rica’s Blue Zones through a modern and adaptable packaging system. Rather than positioning longevity as an aspirational or distant goal, the project defines it as something that is created through daily habits, rituals, and connections that shape a lifestyle.

Inspired by one of the world’s oldest inhabited regions, the project is based on the core principles of community, connection to nature, and purposeful living. These values are not illustrated literally or folklorically; they are embedded in a flexible visual language that naturally evolves across different domains and product categories, reflecting the dynamic and continuous nature of living systems.

The identity is based on a modular system of illustrations, inspired by the local biodiversity and a new interpretation of the organic line technique found in the pre-Columbian graphics of the Nicoya region. These forms – fluid, imperfect, and expressive – create compositions that can be constantly rearranged, creating variety while maintaining a strong and recognizable visual structure. This approach allows the system to grow and adapt over time, much like the traditions and cultural practices that inspired it.

Color plays a crucial role in enhancing this diversity, bringing energy, warmth, and clarity to the entire portfolio. Each palette is carefully considered to differentiate product categories while maintaining coherence within the overall system, supporting both functional navigation and emotional resonance.
The packaging reflects a view of longevity not as an abstract promise but as a daily practice based on simplicity, balance, and meaningful connections. The system turns every touchpoint into a reminder that a good life is built by accumulating small, conscious actions over time.
