Google announces ‘Android Show I/O Edition’ event
The event is aimed specifically at end users and is expected to feature particularly "important" innovations in mobile operating systems this time.
Google has officially announced the Android Show I/O Edition 2026. The online event will take place on May 12 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time. The Android Show concept was born last year; this exhibition is a prelude to Google I/O 2026, reports Android Authority. In the description of the Android Show on YouTube, Google hints at important announcements for this year.

“This is going to be one of the biggest years for Android yet. Tune in to The Android Show | I/O Edition on Tuesday, May 12, at 10 AM PT and be the first to take a look at what the future holds. And if you’re a developer, stay for an exclusive Developers Cut, immediately following the main show on May 12.”
At the Android Show 2025, Google unveiled “Material 3 Expressive,” “Find Hub,” and “Gemini” extensions for “Android Auto,” “Wear OS,” and “Google TV.” This year, observers are expecting information about “Android 17,” the stable version of which is expected to be released in June.
The community is also eagerly awaiting the release of its “Aluminum OS” desktop operating system. Google previously confirmed that the OS will “show its face” in 2026. The official name of the system may be announced at the show, replacing the internal codename used in the press.
