Google has released a new tool that allows users to migrate their preferences, personal context, and conversation history from third-party AI services to Gemini.
The update offers two import formats. To transfer “memories,” you’ll need to copy the prompt offered in the settings into the current AI app, and then paste the generated preference response back into Gemini.
You can also download your complete chat history from other AI services as a single ZIP archive, allowing you to continue old conversations within Gemini from the same point.
The rollout of context transfer began on March 26, 2026. As part of the update, the familiar section with past chats will be renamed “Memory.” This feature is not yet supported for business accounts, users under 18, or residents of Europe, the UK, and Switzerland.
