Gucci gives its audience a glimpse into characters beyond clothing. The brand’s latest creation features an unexpected plot twist, turning a fashion sale into something closer to a criminal case, where the only thing more poignant than tailoring is the hidden secret.

The brand has reimagined its La Famiglia collection as an interactive buy-and-play experience called “La Famiglia: Mystery Unfolds,” created in partnership with Google Gemini.
Rather than presenting the clothes in a standard online store, Gucci’s platform now doubles as a storytelling space, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the story as they browse the collection. The project follows on from the collection’s first debut last September and is part of a new digital push.

The game begins with a call from La Contessa, who reports that her jewels have gone missing during a gathering at her villa. Players then take on the role of an investigator and travel through a group inhabited by characters taken straight from the collection’s visual universe.
As the story unfolds, each guest becomes both a suspect and a style icon. Players question the participants, gather information, and piece together clues as they explore the environment. The clothes are not presented in isolation, but are woven into the narrative, turning the outfits into identifiers in the unfolding plot.
This concept is based on the fictional system introduced with La Famiglia, where each character embodied a distinct personality through their clothing. Here, this idea is extended into movement, transforming what was once a static presentation into an interactive environment. The figures in the collection are no longer limited to merely illustrative images, but act as participants in a scenario.
This effort is in line with Gucci’s recent creative leadership direction, where digital experimentation has become part of a broader strategy. Previous efforts have included the introduction of NFTs, virtual worlds, and alternative runway formats, all of which reflect a shift in how audiences interact with fashion beyond the physical space.
