Inside source: PlayStation 6 release soon, console will be cheap
PlayStation 6 could be released as early as 2027, not 2029.
Sony’s next-generation console is apparently moving faster than expected, with recent leaks suggesting that the upcoming PlayStation 6 will not only be released in 2027 but will also be significantly cheaper than some had expected.

Focus on new hardware
Sony is working on a new generation of consoles. After reports in January and February that the PlayStation 6 might not be released until 2029, the latest signs suggest that the Japanese company’s next console could arrive much sooner.
As reported by Moore’s Law Is Dead on YouTube, all current developments from Sony suggest that the release won’t be in a few years, but rather “soon.” It’s also said that the focus is on cost-effectiveness, which should keep the price down.
The PlayStation 6 is expected to launch even cheaper than the current PS5 Pro, which has been priced at €900. Sony plans to develop the new hardware to keep production costs low, for example, by using cheaper cooling systems and power supplies. As a result, the leaker advises budget-conscious gamers not to buy the Pro model just yet.
A handheld computer with native performance is planned
In addition to the classic home console, the future ecosystem will apparently also include a separate handheld. This mobile device will not only act as a streaming display, like the current PlayStation Portal, but will also automatically render games. According to rumors, it will use four “Zen 6c” cores and two energy-efficient processor cores. A special power-saving mode will be the technical basis for smoothly adapting the frame rate to the hardware.
One of the benefits of the planned portable device is direct backward compatibility. Users will be able to play games from previous and future generations without a constant internet connection. However, this will require developers to optimize their games for more hardware profiles in the future, which will likely increase the cost of software production.
Sony is silent
Whether Sony will be able to stick to the supposed 2027 deadline and keep hardware prices low, given the global economic situation, remains to be seen. The company has not yet commented on any speculation regarding the PlayStation 6. However, the current situation suggests that the transition to a new console era is already underway and fast.
