At the MWC technology conference, Lenovo introduced a new AI-powered robotic desk companion that features expressive, puppy-like eyes on its screen – presumably to make its human owners more helpful. Yes, we’re that gullible.

The so-called Workmate concept is currently a prototype, but the idea is that you talk and gesture to it like a virtual assistant, and it’ll help you with everyday work tasks, as well as keep you company at your desk. Like a cat sitting on your keyboard, only more helpful.
The Workmate’s cute face is one of the perks, but the intended purpose of the device is productivity. Lenovo’s concept uses a camera to scan documents, then turns that material into structured output that you can use.
It also has a projector, which Lenovo envisions as being designed to quickly project information onto a wall or tabletop without the need for another monitor.
Lenovo’s broader set of concepts is based on the same idea: making AI accessible, less like a tool you control and more like something you collaborate with. According to The Verge, Lenovo also showed off a watch-like AI desktop hub designed to handle scheduling, task tracking, and other daily routines.
