Media: Apple plans to launch ‘Mac Neo,’ a cheaper alternative
Has Apple gotten that taste everyone craves?
According to MyDrivers, in response to the tight supply of the Mac mini desktop computer, Apple plans to launch the new entry-level Mac Neo. Positioned below the Mac mini, this device is designed for lightweight everyday use scenarios such as web browsing and document processing.
The Mac Neo will reportedly feature an A19 chip with 12GB of RAM, indicating a release next year. The chipset’s performance will be more than sufficient for basic tasks like web browsing and document editing, but Apple will be able to separate the models to avoid damaging Mac Mini sales.
The design is expected to feature Apple TV-style colored plastic enclosures, and power consumption will be under 35 watts. The price, according to the source, will be $299, half the price of the base Mac Mini.
Apple’s decision is likely due to the surge in demand for the MacBook Neo, which the company itself did not expect, and is urgently increasing production.
