Media: OpenAI halts development of erotic mode for ChatGPT
The company wants to focus on its core product to withstand competition.
The Financial Times reports that OpenAI has suspended plans to release an “adult mode” for its ChatGPT software to focus on the company’s core products.
The publication states that the chatbot’s erotic mode has been postponed indefinitely due to resistance from employees and investors, who believe that such features harm society, including minors.
Before deciding whether to implement such an option, OpenAI wants to more closely examine the long-term consequences of emotional and sexual attachment to chatbots.
OpenAI also recently announced the closure of its Sora platform. Apparently, the company doesn’t want to waste time on separate companies and plans to focus all its efforts on developing ChatGPT, as competitors like Google and Anthropic are giving OpenAI serious competition with their own solutions.
