Michael Jackson’s film is criticized – very poorly rated
Journalists criticize the film for its empty plot, but praise the excellent acting and the staging of the concerts.
Reviews for the biopic “Michael” have been released. Expectations were not met – the film about the King of Pop received extremely low scores.

Rotten Tomatoes has a 31% approval rating based on 60 reviews, while Metacritic has a score of 38 out of 100 (29 reviews). The consensus is that the film lacks substance.
The filmmakers tried to squeeze 26 years of the singer’s life into the film, which resulted in a convoluted plot and the omission of all the more controversial aspects of Michael Jackson’s biography.
Despite a weak script, the film is praised for its visuals and the brilliant performances of its cast, especially that of the singer’s nephew, Ja’afar Jackson, who plays the lead role. “Michael” opens worldwide on April 22, 2026.
