Microsoft is slowing down AI integration into Windows 11
The company is expected to significantly update Copilot and Recall this year and may remove some AI features.
Microsoft has been actively integrating various AI features into Windows 11 since 2024-2025, often causing mixed and even negative reactions from users. However, as Windows Central reports, the company plans to seriously review its strategy this year.

There’s not much information yet about Microsoft’s changes for Windows 11. According to sources familiar with the company’s plans, it is currently considering optimizing and even removing some AI features, such as those from Notepad and Paint.
Additionally, Microsoft is reportedly pausing the integration of Copilot into other built-in Windows 11 programs. The changes may also affect the overall functionality of Copilot and Recall.
“The company is moving away from the concept of ‘AI everywhere’ and focuses on working towards features that actually benefit Windows users.”
There are no official announcements from Microsoft yet.
Earlier, at CES 2026, Dell, a major Microsoft partner, admitted that consumers are less interested in artificial intelligence features so the company will pay less attention to them than before.
