Minecraft World with immersive theme park opens in 2027
A $70 million project is opening within "Chessington World Adventures" in the UK.
Minecraft fans will soon have the chance to trade their keyboards for plane tickets as the pixelated landscapes of the world’s most popular sandbox game are set to materialize in the real world. “Chessington World of Adventures”, just a short train ride from central London, is set to debut as a dedicated Minecraft world in 2027.

This £50 million (over $60 million) expansion marks a major collaboration between Mojang Studios and Merlin Entertainments, which aims to transform the digital sandbox into a tangible, family-friendly destination that maintains the game’s unmistakable blocky aesthetic.
The new land features the world’s first Minecraft roller coaster, with concept art depicting TNT-lined tracks and encounters with familiar monsters like pigs and creepers. The experience continues beyond the ride, with the wider area drawing inspiration from the game’s core pillars – mining, crafting, and exploration – through interactive adventures and expansive in-game landscapes inspired by iconic biomes.
The Chessington location was another deliberate choice. Its easy access to central London makes it ideal for both local families and overseas visitors, and the park plans to complement the experience with themed restaurants and retail shops offering Minecraft-inspired snacks and exclusive merchandise.
For a franchise that has sold over 300 million copies and recently started making major films, creating a real-world attraction seems like the obvious next step. By 2027, the overworld will no longer be trapped behind a screen, and fans will finally be able to roam the blocky forests and caves they’ve spent years building, tearing down, and rebuilding.
