Sales are undervalued: Apple confirms massive ‘Mac’ shortage
Some "Mac Mini" and "Mac Studio" configurations are now completely out of stock.
Those looking to buy Apple’s compact desktop computer will need a lot of patience, as CEO Tim Cook confirmed a massive supply shortage for the “Mac Mini” and “Mac Studio” that is expected to continue for several more months.

Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed during the company’s latest quarterly earnings call that Mac buyers should expect long wait times. Both the Mac Mini and Mac Studio are being severely affected by supply issues. The company doesn’t expect supply and demand to be restored for several months.
The impact on retailers is clear. Currently, many configurations are listed as unavailable on the manufacturer’s official website. This includes the base Mac Mini models, as well as fully equipped Mac Studio versions with large RAM capacities. The delivery dates of other models are being pushed back to the summer, MacRumors reports.
One reason for the high demand is in the AI space. The affected devices are particularly popular for running artificial intelligence agents locally. Developers are increasingly using these computers as workstations for software like OpenClaw. Cook said customer adoption in this segment is happening faster than expected.
Historically, the Mac Mini was more of a niche product for beginners or home server enthusiasts. But with the introduction of Mac processors, the compact device has transformed into a powerful tool for creators and media professionals. The current generation offers enough cooling and processing power to keep even the most demanding tasks running smoothly.
Current models are based on the M4 architecture, which is also suitable for machine learning thanks to its neural engine. Due to the AI boom, production lines are heavily loaded, preventing short-term production increases, so potential buyers must expect longer waiting times.
According to MacRumors, Apple this week stopped offering a 256GB storage option for the Mac mini worldwide. As a result, the desktop computer now has a higher starting price.
In the U.S., for example, the Mac mini now starts at $799 with the M4 chip, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage, whereas it previously started at $599 with the M4 chip, 16GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage.
