Samsung to produce new chips for Tesla electric cars
The chip will be used in Tesla's HW4 Plus self-driving computer.
Tesla plans to use the new AI4 Plus processor in its HW4 Plus autopilot system for its electric cars. The company has ordered Samsung Foundry to manufacture the chip, SamMobile reports.

Elon Musk announced this during his financial report for the first quarter of 2026.
Mass production is expected in 2027, after Samsung completes preparations for its production facilities. The AI4 Plus chip will be an updated version of the AI4 and, according to preliminary data, will be manufactured using a 7nm process technology.
The HW4 Plus system will use two of these chips and 32 GB of RAM each. The total system memory capacity will be 64 GB.
AI4 Plus is designed to perform autopilot tasks, including full self-driving. Tesla notes that the current AI4 platform remains sufficient for these tasks.
Tesla also previously confirmed that Samsung will manufacture the AI5 and AI6 chips. At the same time, there are no plans to implement AI5 in cars in the near future – it will be used in the humanoid robot Optimus and in the company’s data centers.
