Sony announced a price increase for ‘PlayStation’ consoles
The component crisis has reached here, too.
Sony has announced that starting April 2, 2026, all PlayStation consoles, including the PlayStation Portal handheld, will see a significant price increase.
The rates are as follows:
| Model | PlayStation 5 | PlayStation 5 Digital Edition | PlayStation 5 Pro | PlayStation Portal |
| Old price | $549 | $499 | $749 | $199 |
| New price | $649 | $599 | $899 | $249 |
Prices will also rise in other regions, including Europe, the UK and Japan.
Sony explained that it had to raise prices due to ongoing economic pressure in the global market – most likely a memory and other component crisis, which has already forced smartphone and laptop makers to raise prices.
