Sony will probably release a ‘Labubu’ movie
This week, a film studio signed a deal to develop these beloved cute-ugly monsters as a feature film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony has acquired the rights to make a film about the strange little toys, although no director or writer has been attached yet.

Sony declined to comment.
The toys first became a sensation in Southeast Asian markets and then took the rest of the world by storm. Pop Mart’s profits reportedly rose 350 percent earlier this year. “Labubu” is the name of the main line of monster dolls, which includes the leader “Zimomo”, the companion “Mokoko”, and the boyfriend “Tycoco”, among other characters.
It may be too early to tell whether Labubu will fall into the category of fads like “Beanie Babies” or something long-lasting like “Hello Kitty”.
Pop Mart, the maker of Labubu, released its financial results for the first half of 2025, giving the public more insight into just how crazy the world is about the plush monster toy. According to Pop Mart Labubu could earn $1 billion this year.
