‘Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ becomes the biggest cinema hit of 2026
The animated film grossed $629 million and took the number one spot at the box office for the year, taking less than two weeks to reach the top.
According to Variety, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie earned $69 million in the US in its second weekend. That’s down just 48% from its opening weekend, which is a great number for such a big movie. The film’s 12-day total box office revenue has reached $629 million.
This has pushed Ryan Gosling’s End of Days into second place as the highest-grossing film of 2026. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller’s film earned another $24.5 million over the weekend, bringing its total to around $510 million.
Rounding out the top three is the adult film “What a Drama!” starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, which continues to compare its results: despite the production costs of $28 million, the film has already earned $65 million.
