Super Mario: The Galaxy Movie was panned by critics
The sequel has been called too simple in terms of plot, and with a lot of references for the sake of references.
Ratings for the new cartoon “Super Mario: Galaxy Movie” have appeared on Metacritic and other resources.
The ratings were quite low: on Metacritic, the cartoon only earned a 37. On Rotten Tomatoes, the situation is only slightly better: the new installment of Mario’s adventures has a score of 45%.
Critics agree that the sequel’s plot is weak and poorly connected: the film contains many events, but they barely connect. The press also complains that the film is overloaded with references that have no impact on the plot, and the characters are simple and superficial. Many have called “Galaxy Cinema” a soulless product created purely for fan service.
Reviewers also praised the visual quality and excellent soundtrack. The gist of most reviews is that only hardcore Nintendo fans should go see “Mario” in theaters – casual viewers won’t find anything special.
