The world’s largest contract chipmaker, TSMC, is already fully booked for several years ahead as demand for chips from big tech companies increases, analysts say, opening up new opportunities for Samsung, “The Chosun” reported.

Asian media reports that TSMC’s 2-nanometer process is in such high demand that orders for its devices have been placed as early as 2028. Customers include NVIDIA, AMD, Qualcomm, Apple, and many others.
Additionally, the upcoming Arizona Fab 4 factory in Arizona, USA, which has not even begun construction yet and will not be operational until 2030, is also fully booked.
Analysts predict that demand for TSMC’s capacity, which accounts for 72% of the global semiconductor market, will increase even more in the future as companies such as Google and Amazon begin ordering their own artificial intelligence chips.
Samsung, unlike its Taiwanese rival TSMC, only has about 7% of the market. At the same time, the South Korean company is actually the only alternative, as it can also produce chips using the 2nm process. This opens up new opportunities for the company: it has already received orders from Tesla and NVIDIA.
Samsung is hoping to secure more orders for its Texas, US, factory, which is currently under construction. To achieve this, the South Korean company needs to ensure stable production rates while reducing the number of defective chips. Despite some challenges, analysts are already predicting that Samsung’s semiconductor business, which has been loss-making for a long time, will finally become profitable in 2026.
