Volkswagen showcases electric ‘ID. Polo’
The successor to the legendary hatchback, capable of driving up to 454 km.
Volkswagen has presented the world premiere of the ID. Polo, the fully electric successor to one of its most successful models. The new one continues the history of a model that has sold more than 20 million units over seven generations.

New chapter of the bestseller 20 million units
ID. The Polo will be launched 50 years after the original Polo debuted and is Volkswagen’s first attempt to integrate the iconic petrol model into its electric ID range. The car was developed in Wolfsburg and will be built at the SEAT/CUPRA plant in Martorell, Spain. The model is part of the Brand Group Core collaboration, which aims to expand affordable electromobility across the Volkswagen, SEAT, CUPRA and Škoda brands.

Thomas Schaefer, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars and Head of Brand Group Core, said:
“The ID. Polo brings one of Volkswagen’s bestsellers into the electric age. For decades, the Polo has been part of people’s everyday lives. With the ID. Polo, we are making electromobility accessible to many more people – with a clear and timeless design, intuitive operation, high quality, and technology from the higher segments. This is a real Volkswagen, exactly the kind our customers expect.”
Power plants and charging
The ID. Polo has a new front-wheel drive architecture based on the modernized MEB+ platform. The 85 kW and 99 kW versions are equipped with a 37 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, which can be charged from 10% to 80% in about 23 minutes at a DC fast charger. The range according to the WLTP cycle is 329 km.
The flagship 155 kW (211 hp) version has an NMC battery with a usable capacity of 52 kWh. It supports 10–80% charging in approximately 24 minutes and provides up to 454 km of range according to WLTP.
All versions support the “vehicle-to-load” function, which allows external devices with a power of up to 3.6 kW to be powered via the internal 230 V socket.
Dimensions and practicality
The ID. Polo is 4,053 mm long, 1,816 mm wide, 1,530 mm high, and has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. Overall, the model is similar in size to the petrol Polo, but the MEB+ platform provides more space in the cabin.

The boot volume has increased by 25% to 441 litres, or 1,240 litres with the rear seats folded down. Volkswagen is positioning this model as a city car that is also suitable for family trips.
Interior
The ID. Polo is the first series-production model to use the new “Pure Positive” design language developed by chief designer Andreas Mindt.

The cabin features a 10-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13-inch Innovision touchscreen. Volkswagen has also returned to physical buttons for key functions, taking into account a lot of customer feedback on previous ID models. Assistance systems include:
- Next-generation travel assistant;
- Optional traffic light recognition system (a first in this segment according to Volkswagen);
- Standard single pedal control.
Prices and configurations
In Germany, three trim levels will be offered: Trend, Life, and Style. Pre-sales will start with the ID. Polo Life with a 155-kilowatt powertrain and a 52 kWh battery for 33,795 euros. The base version for 24,995 euros and other configurations will be available in the summer of 2026.
