Want a Galaxy S26? Read! The real ‘revolution’ is expected in 2027
After years of waiting, the "Galaxy S27" Ultra will get a major camera upgrade.
We are at the finish line. The new Samsung Galaxy S26 series is just a month and a half away (February 25). But the leaked information makes us wonder: is it worth spending money on this year’s model if the real “fun” won’t start until next year?

There’s a rule in the tech world: “look” years (small updates) and “do” years (big changes). It looks like 2026 will be just a minor cosmetic overhaul, while 2027 will bring what we’ve all been waiting for with the “Galaxy S27 Ultra.”
The 2026 model could disappoint
According to sources, the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra will have essentially the same camera system as previous models. If you have an S24 or S25 series phone, you probably won’t notice much of a difference in your photos.
What is known about the Galaxy S27 Ultra? (Three big changes)
Renowned tech commentator Ice Universe reports that Samsung has finally woken up. Under pressure from its Chinese competitors (who have long been offering crazy cameras), the Koreans are preparing a serious response for the beginning of 2027.
Here’s what’s changing in the Galaxy S27 Ultra:
- Main camera: Although there were rumors about a giant 1-inch sensor, it seems that, due to costs, we will stick with the 1/1.3-inch format (like the ISOCELL HP2), but the sensor itself will be of a completely new generation and much more advanced.
- Ultrawide camera: Finally getting a serious upgrade, allowing you to take quality photos even in the dark.
- Front camera: Selfie quality should jump to a new level.
- Facial recognition: The S27 is said to have technology that is superior to “Face ID.” The phone will recognize you even with sunglasses or a mask on, and it will work in the dark.
Is it worth the wait?
It depends on what you have now.
- If your phone is old (e.g. S21, S22): The new S26 (coming in March) will still be a huge leap forward, so waiting another year may not be an option.
- If you have an S24 or S25 Ultra: Experts unanimously advise you to save your money. The S26 won’t offer a revolution, and the S27 (coming in early 2027) could be the phone that puts Samsung back on top of the camera world.
Among other things, innovation does not wait
If you’re tired of standard phones, Samsung has the best cards to offer. The first tri-fold phone, unveiled in December 2025, has already been snapped up, despite its astronomical price of $2,400. It’s coming to the global market early this year, and this shows that Samsung still knows how to surprise – just not necessarily in the “S” series.
