Wikipedia has banned editors from using AI to write articles
The platform has restricted the creation and significant reworking of original content using neural networks like ChatGPT or Gemini.

This innovation stems from the fact that the generated materials violate the encyclopedia’s fundamental rules – the requirement to rely on verifiable, authoritative sources and maintain a neutral point of view. The AI’s tendency to “hallucinate” and fabricate facts threatens the credibility of the entire platform.
The use of neural networks is now permitted only for minimal support tasks. Editors can still turn to AI for grammar checking, spelling correction, or basic assistance with automatic translation.
