WSJ: ‘Monsters Inc. 3’ in development at Pixar
However, it seems that the film will not be released anytime soon, after the new projects "The Incredibles" and "Coco".
The Wall Street Journal shared a lengthy article about Pixar’s internal processes, in which the publication also hinted at the studio’s upcoming projects. One of them is a third Monsters Inc. film.
However, details about the film are scarce, and its premiere is likely still a long way off. Pixar is currently developing several projects, the least anticipated of which is the sequel to Monsters Inc.
Pixar is reportedly planning “The Incredibles 3” in 2028 and a “Coco” sequel in 2029.
In addition, the studio is working not only on sequels, but also on original projects. After “Hoppers”, Pixar will release “Gatto”, about a black cat in Venice, and “Ono Ghost Market”, about mystical Asian markets.
Pixar’s next sequel, “Toy Story 5”, starring a balding Woody, will be released worldwide on June 19, 2026.
